We had a lovely stay at the Congresbury Arms. The meal was delicious, with a good selection on the menu and attentive service to match. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed, making it easy to relax. Breakfast the next morning was a highlight, with fresh, tasty options to start the day. Overall, it’s a charming spot for a meal and an overnight escape—we’d happily return!

Another very enjoyable 3 night stay at the Congresbury, this time over the Christmas holiday. All the staff are so helpful and could not do enough for us. Room was spotlessly clean, warm and welcoming. A freshly cooked breakfast was available every day from a wide choice of menu, which could be further tailored to your own tastes. We also enjoyed dinner in the restaurant on our arrival. The menu is very varied, with plenty to choose from, including some Christmas specials and was very good value.Ample parking available. Highly rated and looking forward to our next visit.

Our second time staying here but definitely not our last. We tried a different room this time. Freebies on offer were jelly babies (the wife's favourite), peanuts, oat biscuits, Galaxy chocolate drink (another one for SWMBO), Azera (my favourite) and Nescafe coffee and Yorkshire tea.The room was well furnished, quiet and spacious and the bed comfortable. This time I had the pleasure of eating in the restaurant. The food was simply delicious. The same applies to breakfast the following morning which was cooked to order, fresh and tasty. The room would be a good reason to stay here. The food an even better reason but the real point of excellence is the staff. Helpful, polite, friendly, skilled and obviously committed to making a guest's stay as pleasing as possible.

Have used this hotel once before and returned as it is convenient to where some friends live.It has improved since we last visited (pre-pandemic) and the food is lovely. Would definitely recommend booking for a meal while staying there.Service was good and staff very friendly. Rooms are comfortable and warm but the facilities are still quite worn despite new carpets etc. Good for a one-night stay but wouldn't want to stay there for longer.

We stayed the night before our flight from Bristol Airport, our room was comfortable and the staff very welcoming. We enjoyed a meal in the restaurant and as we were leaving very early were given a breakfast tray. The journey to the airport took about 15 minutes and is not too difficult if you use a sat nav. I am very happy to recommend.

Best of all though were the staff - very friendly and the service was excellent. We will definitely be staying again.

The breakfast in the morning was first class with a selection that should meet anyone’s needs. No hesitation in recommending this establishment.

We booked a night at the Congresbury Arms but could easily have stayed for a week. Great style, attention to detail and hospitality. Highly recommend, including to anyone who is either flying from Bristol or like us - going to a party & exploring the local area. From the moment that we arrived to leaving after a delicious breakfast, we could not have been made to feel more at home. Much, much prefer staying in unique places rather than generic hotels & this one is definatly on our list for a future stay !

Needed a place to stay last minute to be near the Vets at Langford to pick up our family dog the following day . Staff were so friendly & so helpful , lovely choices of food on menu for evening meal & cooked breakfast was plentiful & set us up for day ahead . We stayed in the Cheddar room which on another review as on busy road can be a bit noisy but this most definitely wouldn’t deterus from staying at the Congresbury Arms again . Room was so comfortable & clean .Shame we didn’t have the chance to sample the Beautiful outside Beer garden whichlooked so nice .Thanks againCarol & David ( South Wales )

Arrived and was asked if we wanted to check in straight away or get a drink first, we opted to check in. My husband had pulled his back and the gent who checked us in kindly carried out bags up the stairs for us. We were the only guests staying, and although we booked the most basic room, we were given a complimentary upgrade. They knew we had a table booked for dinner at 7pm, and knew it was our anniversary. The room was beautiful, breakfast in the morning was absolutely stunning. We had a wonderful anniversary celebration here and look forward to coming back again!

We really enjoyed our stay at tge Congresbury Arms. It was glorious weather and was able to enjoy relaxing and enjoy a drink in the lovely mature garden. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Evening meal was delicious and the ambiance around the bar was very much 'Modern Old Inn' and very nice. We were there for my Brothers wedding in the local church and after a nice full English breakfast took some lovely pictures in the garden before heading off to the church. We very much enjoyed our stay and Nick and his staff very friendly and accommodating.

We were attending a show in Bristol on Saturday night and wanted somewhere to stay that wasn’t in the city. We were both familiar with Congresbury so chose to stay at the Congresbury Arms and it didn’t disappoint. The room had everything we needed and the complimentary drinks and snacks were a lovely extra. Breakfast was absolutely delicious - we had Eggs Benedict and Full English and we couldn’t fault it. The transport links into Bristol are good and we were able to get the bus into the city easily. Our only small negative was the room was quite stuffy. There was a fan in the room which was appreciated but some air con may have helped. This is just a minor point though as we know you can’t control the weather and it didn’t affect the quality of our stay or willingness to return. Thank you 😊

We had not stayed at the hotel before and we were pleasantly surprised at the friendly welcome we received. First impressions were good:- clean, quiet, pleasant décor and a very large car park.We were shown to our room and given a brief introduction to shower, television, wi-fi etc.My wife was very pleased to find Yorkshire Tea, a bottle of jelly babies (her favourite sweet), stem ginger biscuits (another favourite) and Galaxy chocolate drink, (yet another favourite). Bottled water was provided as well as proper size, cups and glasses. The room was clean with an interesting slope to the floor. This is a grade 2 listed building evidently and certain corrective works were not allowed.Breakfast was included and was cooked fresh to our order. It was delicious.Although we only stayed one night we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The friendly, helpful staff could not be faulted and we will be staying here on subsequent visits to our daughterThis is a jewel in this area and we cannot recommend it highly enough.

Hotels are so expensive in the UK nowadays. We wanted somewhere cheaper with quality and good food for three nights to see things like Tyntesfield, Cheddar Gorge, Wells etc. The room was spacious and modern, with a floor amusingly like the rolling hills nearby! The food was two rosettes standard and good. All the staff were friendly. We had two surprising good finds, Chew Valley reservoir Salt & Malt cafe was glorious on a sunny day and Oakham Treasures museum was great for tons of nostalgia and memories.

This is probably the best restaurant for gluten free options that we have ever been to. It's automatically on the menu what already is gluten free or what can be made gluten free. The sausages at breakfast are already gluten free and were the nicest sausages my husband had ever had in a full English. The bread crumbed items on the menu are already gluten free. Just brilliant!Dinner portions, the meat portion sizes are perfect. The vegetarian portion sizes were too large and could have been halved and I would have still been happy and possibly had room for pudding and more wine.Room was clean. Staff were attentive and friendly. Perfect location for exploring Bath and Bristol. Especially if you don't want to stay in the city. Would stay again without hesitation.

Had a very nice stay at Congresbury Arms whilst attending a family wedding in Wrington.Staff were very welcoming and friendly, kindly pre-arranged taxis for us on the day of the wedding, the rooms were very spacious and clean (albeit a few stains on the carpet), the food in the restaurant for evening dinner and breakfast was very nice.My only disappointment was that my husband found a piece of wire mixed in with his breakfast spinach. When reported to the waiting staff, all's that was said was "oh I don't know how that got there, the spinach is pre-packed". No apology was offered and the plate was just taken away and no more was said.Given that this could have caused injury to my husband's throat, I don't think it should have been dismissed so easily. For this I am reluctant to give 5*'s.

We decided to break our journey to Cornwall by stopping over in this lovely village. What makes this place a superb place to stay is not only the quality of the accommodation and the food is the people who work there and run it.Nothing is too much trouble. Every little detail is taken care of all with a smile. We will definitely stay again.Greg Nicholls

The Congresbury Arms is a great find if you want friendly service and a comfortable stay.Murray the manager was really helpful and all staff were polite and friendly. The owner is gluten and dairy free so the restaurant caters for such dietary requirements. For anyone with such dietary restrictions, it is wonderful having such a wide choice of options!I can recommend the cider battered fish and chips! My only slight negative was the noise from the road, the building is restricted with being unable to change the windows, so nothing can be done to rectify.

Staff attentive, courteous and helpful. This was our second stay first one in Yatton Room and second in Cheddar Room. Both very spacious and although they are close to the main road very quiet. Rooms are spotlessly clean with tea and coffee making facilities, also nice touches like complementary quality biscuits, bottled water, jars of jelly beans and nuts which are replenished every day. There is uht milk in the room but fresh milk is available from the bar in a small flask. Beds are very comfortable with extra pillows if required. The evening meals are excellent with a good choice, and the breakfast has lots of options. We stayed at the George and the Rising Sun in nearby Backwell and although good not a patch on the Congresbury Arms. We look forward to staying with you again in the future.

This is the second time in two years that we have stayed at The Congresbury. We raved about it last time and I'm pleased to report that not a lot has changed, including their prices, which is remarkable given the ridiculous hikes in prices this Summer. The food is superb, the ambience great and the service absolutely fabulous. My wife and I are on a Low Fodmap diet, which can be a tad trying, yet the chef coped admirably and looked after us brilliantly. Thoroughly recommend the place.

Good things:There is plenty of parking. Our room was comfortable, clean and large enough. The bath towels are huge, soft and fluffy. The breakfast was delicious. The 2 members of staff we dealt with were professional and friendly.However.Our visit, booked 2 years before and confirmed in writing, was almost a non-starter when a mere 5 days before we were due, we were called to tell us there was a “plumbing problem” telling us that they were cancelling our booking and suggesting alternatives which were all booked up.This had all the hallmarks of being bumped off an aircraft by an airline who had over booked their seats. We were phoned an hour or so later and told another guest had agreed to move to another hotel.Future guests should bear in mind that it is on a main road and the rooms do not have double glazing, which would have been too hot anyway, so there is bound to be some traffic noise.

We had a roast beef dinner, that was gorgeous and a good price, our breakfasts were lovely too. All of the staff were most attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. The restaurant itself was worth the trip. The food was excellent as was the bar.On the downside there was no hot water in the morning due to a fault but these things happen. We also stayed at their sister hotel in Cheddar on the way down, the Bath Arms. Both hotels are very comfortable and clean and have good restaurant facilities, both of which we used during our stays. Both hotels are roadside so for very light sleepers it may be a problem if you need to have the window open but it didn't bother us at all. Would definitely recommend and stay there again ourselves.

We had a lovely stay at the Congresbury Arms 7th to 10th September 20. We were a little disapointed as we couldn't book the room we wanted but we had a double room which was adequate for the length of our stay. One comment would be that the window in the bathroom was clear glass and faced onto the street so the blind had to be down all of the time. However that is the only negative.Breakfasts were excellent one of the best full english breakfasts I have ever had.We had dinner one night and again the food was fantastic. The staff are wonderful couldn't do enough to help.Thank you to all for a lovely stay.

We enjoyed two nights at the Congresbury Arms it is quite quirky in layout as you would expect from an 18th Century building but tastefully decorated with in-vogue colours which you would not expect. It is spotlessly clean and well maintained.Congresbury is an excellent centre for touring North Somerset and is within easy reach of both the coast and the MendipsThe food is all it is cracked up to be and I can honestly say the apple and blackberry Crème brûlée was probably the best dessert I have ever had! The staff are all friendly and accommodating. It is situated on a busy road but in our room we did not notice any traffic noise.

The grounds of the hotel were lovely with good service from the staff. Trendy menu with good food. The room was lovely, some road noise, but acceptable for a short stay. The owner was friendly and had good support from his staff. Our breakfast, although acceptable, could have been better, slight let down for us, although lovely coffee. Would stay again.

we stayed at your hotel on thursday and generally we were very happy. with afew little tweaks the stay would have been perfect. we ended up having lunch and drinks on arrival, dinner and breakfast and the quality was fab and service from all staff was friendly, efficient and very professional, dealing with the covid restrictions. The room was attractive and very clean, unfortunately the bed wasnt comfortable and if you put a mattress topper on it then you wouldn't be able to feel the springs, also due to the sloping floor in the old building the bed slants so you feel like you are rolling over to the window side. again this could be easily rectified with some wooden blocks to balance it up.as much as we loved the hotel and restaurant, we didn't sleep well but some of that was due to the hotel alarm going off twice and the reasons above plus the wind blowing items around in the yard below. We appreciate the effort put in at the hotel and would love to return but maybe not in the Wells room.

We arrived and had lunch in the garden before checking in.The staff were very friendly and it was set up extremely well for social distancing. The staff were attentive to needs of everyone. The garden is beautiful. The food was absolutely stunning. The member of staff serving us took us to our room afterwards, very personal service. Our room was quirky, with floors on an angle, just what you'd expect in an old building, it was decorated tastefully. The only downside was that my partner thought the bathroom was a little dirty in comparison to the standard of the room. The bed was comfy and we slept well, albeit a bit hot. There was a fan in the room but we prefer the window being open and unfortunately it wouldn't stay open so we had to wedge a towel in to do this.Breakfast the following morning was exceptional. The pub is so tastefully decorated and the staff are outstanding.I would definitely recommend this place and stay here again.

We stayed here for 3 nights,Thursday to Saturday, in cheddar room which was clean, spacious and comfy looking out to the front of the hotel. We had 3 breakfasts, 2 evening meals, and lunch in the garden once. The standard of food & drink was excellent at all times. The staff were polite, friendly, and worked to a very high standard despite the difficulties of coping with Covid restrictions which they all took seriously. This is a verywell organised operation. The pub interior is lovely with a grey/green decor and a floor made of huge slabs of slate which kept the interior cool. There is a pretty good sized beer garden and lovely walks along the river at the back of the pub. Congresbury is a lovely little village with a good community feel. Really loved our stay here and wouldn’t hesitate to return the next time we are in the area.

Good place to stay with comfortable rooms and an especially delicious breakfast.Set in village of Congresbury with good access to Bristol, the cost and hills.Friendly and helpful staff.Bar could do with longer opening hours and cost of the accommodation may detract visitors. But overall a good place to stay.

Spot on venue, you can park right outside and be welcomed warmly. Good standard of room with complimentary bottles of water (so important) plus nuts, sweeties and cake. The beer served is perfect and the food is excellent, what more could I ask for?The cost of B & B is great value and I almost forgot to add that breakfast was superb and its served at the table, none of that diy shenanigans! I will be back.

What a great place! An independent inn of the highest quality. The room was beautifully styled and with nice touches - kilner jars with jelly beans, and home-made flapjack and a delicious home-made spicy nut mix.Importantly, everything worked! The bed was a little soft for me but I still slept well.I'd recommend a room at the back though as the traffic noise after about 5.30 a.m. is noticeable. The food (and menu in general) was delightful. An unexpected treat was the bread and dipping oil/vinegar and an amuse bouche. I chose one of the vegetarian options - beetroot/cheese gnocchi and seared vegetables with a generous side of buttered greens. It's great when the staff are willing to make time for conversation or actively initiate it - especially when you are a sole traveller; that was very evident from everyone I interacted with.I'd easily recommend The Congresbury Arms - they've nailed it.However, I am well aware that this hasn't happened by accident - great training, well-selected people who enjoy their jobs and seem to work as a happy team, and a very good kitchen.

Loved the decoration of rooms and restaurant. Rooms lovely and warm. Food was very good too. Only real gripe was the kitchen extractor fan ran all night and meant we had a disturbed night.Guessing owners already know this as there are ear plugs in the bedside drawers. Not much that can be done about the extractor fan noise but it would stop as staying there again which is a shame as we loved it otherwise.

Extra chair taken to bedroom, thenmeal table and breakfast bar set up at nearest table to stairs. Excellent food. Pity about the steep stairs. The bonus is the exceptional dinning and breakfast fair with a fresh modern menu that does frequently change and offer new choices. The busy restaurant is a testament to the hotels wonderful food offering in a relaxed bar and dinning environment. So do not tell any one about this hotel just in case I can not get a room booking in the future. Enjoy.

My wife and I had the delightful pleasure of staying at this wonderful pub/hotel with two relatives recently. The pub and rooms are great, but the service is exceptional as is the food, the thoughtfulness of staff and the little extras that the hotel provides. My wife and I are on a medically supervised low Fodmap diet and therefore approach eating out with trepidation. I had phoned the hotel prior to our visit to give them a list of things we could not eat. Upon checking in I asked if our diet was going to be a problem. Later that evening, after a funeral, we discovered that, not only was it no problem, but they had printed out special menus for us with several suitable options for each course; even the complimentary appetisers had been given careful consideration. Throughout our sadly brief stay we continued to be delighted with the cheerful, friendly, efficient, thoughtful service received from every member of staff. Well done senior management, you obviously choose your staff carefully, look after them and train them well. We would all thoroughly recommend The Congresbury Arms, particularly if you have special dietary requirements. Look forward to visiting you again some time even if we don't need to be in the area for any particular reason. Many thanks for looking after us so well and making us feel special, instead of a nuisance with our dietary needs.

We were made to feel special from the moment we walked in. The room was immaculate with special details that you just don't get in other hotels like little jars of sweets and nuts, bottled water, luxury toiletries. The staff were all very friendly and couldn't do enough for us.We booked into the restaurant for dinner and were absolutely stunned by the quality of the food. Masterchef final standard of presentation and quality of ingredients. Again, we had little extra touches to make it more special like amuse bouche before the meal and homemade biscuit with coffee. We couldnt fault a thing. Also included in the very reasoable room rate was breakfast in the morning which included cereals, fruit and your choice from the cooked menu if you so wished.I would definitely stay here again and wouldn't hesitate at recommending it.

We had a misunderstanding in the room booking and the manager went out of her way to resolve the matter to our satisfaction. The accommodation is well placed for visiting key attractions in North Somerset .l have given only 4 as the only downside the pub is located on a fairly busy minorjunction and the front rooms can be a bit noisy if you prefer sleep with windows open . That being said the windows are secondary glazed and a fan blower is provided to circulate air . Beds are very comfortableThe room tariffs and drinks and food were very good

The rooms have their own private entrance so you can come and go without needing to cut through the pub below . The breakfast choice is excellent with high quality well cooked full english my recommendation . Staff and service very helpful and friendly . I would not hesitate to recommend the congresbury arms to anyone wanting well priced good quality accommodation .

What a wonderful find - the staff were so helpful and friendly; the food was great and the room had all we required for our stay. We were out during the day, but spent a couple of evenings relaxing in the lounge bar where a couple of bar staff were great answering the quiz questions we couldn't!

really enjoyed our stay here.large carpark. friendly staff on arrival at the hotel who were very informative when we asked them anything.lovely room with a nice new modern bathroom.lovely extra touches like the complimentary snacks and beverages in our room.luxury toiletries to use in the bathroom.really enjoyed our breakfast which was delicious and filled us up nicely for the journey. the restaurant had a lovely menu, the desserts sounded particularly yummy, we would of loved to try but as we were already going out that evening we didn't get the opportunity to try but maybe next time.many thanks for a lovely stay.

Comfortable overnighter, clean and pleasant room which included bits and pieces to make the stay welcoming. Staff attentive and welcoming.Only possible down point (for others) is small number of stairs to the room. We expect to return.

My wife and I recently stayed while on a new home expedition in North Somerset. The staff were very friendly and were very attentive, especially the new Restaurant Manager. Our meal on the Friday night was excellent. We both enjoyed the steak. The beer battered onion rings were huge and fabulous, best I have ever had. The inclusive breakfast was five star. Great local sausages and a wide range of options from full cooked to vegetarian. We are very much looking forward to returning soon.

We were very warmly welcomed on arrival and shown to our room, Yatton, which was spacious, stylish and well appointed.Breakfast was delicious, with a good selection of fruit, cereals and cooked options, and efficient and friendly waitress service. We have to say that each member of staff we encountered was extremely pleasant, helpful and professional. In all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would strongly recommend Congresbury Arms.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We found the team welcoming and then courteous and friendly throughout. The decor was excellent and our bedroom comfortable and nicely presented. the shower was excellent and the attention to detail first class. We dined in the restaurant and the food for dinner and then breakfast was first class and good value. We were in a front room and with a window open, on a warm night, it was noisy. I strongly recomend air conditioning and better sound proofing is fitted in these rooms. (The 4 rather than 5 star is because of the disturbed night's sleep)

Hello Mr ParryThank you for your kind words.I am writing to assure you that we have commissioned secondary glazing providers to ensure the rooms are better sound proofed and expect these works complete by June. There will be air flow units in the rooms as well very shortly. We do hope to see you again and you can experience the improvements we are constantly making.Best regardsSean
